Oil paint techniques
Fred Chaote Very good on values
He uses a double primary palette and organises darker colours in front
Warms on left > Cad Yellow. Cad red light. Viridian is his warm blue
and cool on right > UMBLUE A Crimson Azo yellow
You need to be able to neutralise colours in landscape painting Fred uses MUD
A warm and a cool mud. The cool is very close to Burnt Umber / mixed from Blue Red Yellow
The warm is close to YO 99% yellow red Viridian
Uses Liquin to tone canvas plus Very little paint and rubs it off A very light colour to tone
